India launches quantum satellite communication test from Ladakh

India has successfully conducted its first quantum satellite communication test from a high-altitude ground station in Ladakh. The project, executed by DRDO in collaboration with IISc Bangalore, demonstrated quantum key distribution over a 300 km range. This achievement is being hailed as a major milestone in securing military and government communications against cyber espionage. The next phase involves establishing quantum internet nodes in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru by 2026. India now joins a select club of nations working on space-based quantum technology alongside China, USA, and Germany.
